Ever wanted to give glass making a go? Are you thinking of a special way to celebrate your birthday with friends? Or do you have a relative that has everything and is impossible to buy for? A glass workshop might be just what you need…
One of the things I enjoy most is sharing my passion for glass with others. My little studio is perfect for hosting small workshops for either 1, 2 or 3 people, and larger groups can be catered for at external venues. No experience is necessary and each course can be adapted to suit all ages and ability levels.
Teaching Style
When teaching glass techniques my approach is very open as I like to work with each individual’s ideas as much as possible. Whilst examples and step-by-step guidance can be provided to those who prefer instruction based tuition, I do encourage everyone to think about what inspires them so that they make something that they feel connected to.
Feedback
“Emma is lovely! It was so easy to organise the session with her, ready to contact and getting back to me very promptly. She was very accommodating when booking. Session was great fun and Emma was very encouraging. Really enjoyed the session and will probably be back again… Thanks Emma!” – Kay
Course Options
Currently I have two options available:
- 2 hour taster sessions introduce basic cutting and fusing techniques to create a 10x10cms glass coaster or similar sized light catcher using clear sheet glass and an abundance of coloured accessory glass, including frit, stringers and confetti.
Prices: For 1 person £42, for 2 people £75, for 3 people £90. - Full day workshops (5 hours) allow participants to work at a larger scale to create a medium to large sized bowl or art panel. In addition to the materials listed above, glass powder is also introduced to create a subtle layering effect and offer the opportunity to work with stencils.
Prices: For 1 person £140, for 2 people £220, for 3 people £280.
Timings are approximate as it largely depends on the designs people choose to create. There is no extra charge if we run over the allotted time frame.
I will be adding more courses throughout 2024 – sign up for the monthly newsletter at the bottom of this page to be the first to know.
What’s Included
For all courses a range of accessory glass in various colours will be available to choose from and prices are inclusive of all materials, equipment and firings. The finished pieces are fired in the kiln and made ready for collection within a few days. Alternatively work can be posted out for a small fee to cover postage and packaging.
Refreshments are offered free of charge, consisting of hot and cold drinks with biscuits. People attending the full day workshop are invited to bring their own packed lunch if desired.
Gift Vouchers
Workshop vouchers are ideal for presenting as a gift for any occasion. Whether it’s for a group of friends discovering new skills together, a couple celebrating their anniversary, or a surprise Christmas treat for an individual, just let me know at the time of booking that you require a voucher and this can be sent to you or directly to the recipient free of charge.
Location
My studio is based in Balderton near Newark in Nottinghamshire and there is plenty of off-street parking right outside.
Large Groups
For larger groups I can travel to external venues and bring the materials with me. All work made will need to return with me to the studio for firing in the kiln and either collected or posted out once cooled.
I have previously facilitated workshops for staff team days, birthday parties, schools, youth clubs and WI groups. The maximum number of participants is 40.
Quotes are calculated based on individual requirements.
Bookings
All workshops are booked on an individual basis via email to find a suitable date for all, as I am flexible between weekdays, evenings or weekends. For all enquiries and bookings just drop me an email at emma@stoppedclockglass.com and we can discuss your queries and preferences with no obligation to book. I look forward to hearing from you!
